Bellevue Cable Car

The Bellevue Cable Car is a 37-person cable car that runs from the Bellevue ground station (995m) near the center of Les Houches to the Bellevue mountain station (1796m). Bellevue provides access to Mont Lachat to the south and Col de Voza to the north. You can also descend into the valley that is cut out by the Glacier de Bionnassay towards the hamlet of Bionnassay as part stage 1 of the Tour du Mont Blanc. We got also got a great trail running from Bellevue to Les Contamines via de Col de Tricot. The Tramway du Mont Blanc also has a stop near Bellevue enabling an onward journey all the way up to the Nid d'Aigle.

The Bellevue ground station has a ticket office where you can buy tickets directly on the same day. Babies below 6 months of age are not allowed to ride the cable car. For exact operating dates, ticket prices and to buy your tickets online, visit the official website.

The Bellevue cable car was built by Charles Viard and it opened on 1936. At that time the Tramway du Mont Blanc from Saint-Gervais was already in place and the idea was to provide a connection to the tramway from the Les Houches side and to give access to the skiing areas. In 1962 the lift was modernized. For a lot more historical and technical information about this lift, you can visit the French Remontee-Mechanique website.

Fantastic route with so much to offer and a great diversity of scenery and views. This trail can be done with children as long as they can handle the significant amount of downhill.
