Beautifully situated refuge on alpine pastures between Les Contamines and the Miage valley. It has fantastic views all around in all directions. The refuge is part of an alpine farm run by the same family since 1936. According to their website you can join them for the milking of their cows in the evening in the months of July and August. They sell fresh milk and milk products.
The refuge has accommodation capacity for 26 people in its dormitory and is generally open from mid June to mid September. They will provide pillows and blankets but you need to bring your own liner. Check their website link to confirm availability and to make bookings.
Just like the nearby Chalets de Miage, the Chalets du Truc can be an accommodation option for those doing the first stage of the Tour du Mont Blanc and taking the alternative route over Col de Tricot. We got a detailed trail description for the trail between Bellevue and Les Contamines over the Col de Tricot.
