The Église Saint-Pierre d'Argentière is a beautiful French Catholic baroque style church located in the center of Argentiere. The church was built in 1724 to enable the inhabitants of Argentiere to go to their own church instead of having to journey all the way to Chamonix. A journey which was very difficult or impossible to make in winter. It was consecrated on October 23, 1727 by the Bishop of Geneva. Since then it has been renovated multiple times including a full restoration in 1965 and the installation of a new organ in 2016. The church is French Catholic and belongs to the Diocese of Annecy. The church of Saint-Pierre d'Argentière is one of the nicest churches in the Chamonix Valley and definitely worth a visit. It has a fantastic backdrop of the Glacier d'Argentiere and the Aiguille Vert. There is a large graveyard on the backside of the church which you will pass by when taking the trail from Le Tour that runs through the north side of the town. The Second World War monument and the townhall of Argentiere are situated right in front of the church.
