The Alpage and Chalets de Chailloux are a mountain pasture with a number of small chalets at the foot of the Aiguillette des Houches above Les Houches. It has a fantastic location right across Mont Blanc in the middle of a wide pasture which often has a large flock of sheep grazing in it. The Chalets de Chailloux is open during the peak summer months from mid June to mid September when they serve drinks and a few basic snacks. You can find the menu from 2024 in our photos section.

The easiest way to reach the Chalets de Chailloux is from Parc Merlet which has both parking for cars and public transport options. Another good option is to park your car at the Parking du Bettey above Le Coupeau. If you want to includes it in a hike or run then your best option is to combine it with a visit to the spectacular Aiguillette des Houches which features some of the best views on the eastern side of the Chamonix Valley. We got a great trail from Parc Merlet, to the Refuge de Bellachat and the Aiguillette des Houches which passes by the Chalets de Chailloux. Another great option is a similar route from Le Bettey which passes by La Pierre Blanche and takes the eastern crest trail to the Aiguillette des Houches and then passes by the Chalets de Chaillloux on the way back down.

Spectacular views on this one! The walk over the crest from Bellachat to Aiguillette des Houches is absolutely spectacular. Merlet makes for the easiest access without lifts.
