There two glaciers that carry the name Glacier de Miage. One on the Italian side and this one, on the french side, west of the Mont Blanc. This glacier is built up by the glacial basin which is surrounded by the high peaks of the Aiguille du Tricot, the Aiguille du Bionnassay and the Dome du Miage. From there it flows down to the Miage valley which contains the Chalets de Miage.
The nearest you can get to the glacier is from the Refuge de Plan de Glacier which in turn is accessible from Col de Tricot via the "Sentier des Contrebandiers". We have a detailed trail description for a loop trail from the Chalets de Miage to the Col de Tricot to the Refuge de Plan de Glacier. It is a strenuous but beautiful trail.
