The Refuge Sales is located near the Desert de Plate between Servoz and Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval. It is one of the refuges along the very popular Tour de Fiz. The refuge is generally opened from mid June to mid September but you should visit their website for the exact dates which are published at the start of each year.

The refuge has a rich history, having been converted from an old farm house to a refuge in 1981 by the Mogenier family who still run it to this day. The Refuge has a capacity of 54 divided over 2 dormitories. They will provide pillows and blankets but you need to bring your own liner. There is no cellphone coverage in the valley where the refuge is located. Guests are also expected to bring out their own trash. There is a fresh water source but you cannot take showers in the refuge. In general its important to understand that the refuge is located in a very remote location and uses solar panels to generate power. So electricity is in limited supply and you should bring your own battery packs. Supplies are flown in by helicopter a few times during the season but most fresh produce is delivered manually. The refuge serves snacks and drinks to visitors and meals to those staying the night.
