This monument commemorates the first radiotelephone exchange sent from the summit of Mont Blanc on June 15, 1932. The project was headed by Adrien Cheney with the support of Roger Frison-Roche, Alfred Couttet and Louis Gaillot. The progress of the expedition that set out to climb Mont Blanc and setup the radio transmission was monitored from the Vallot observatory, near the site of the monument.
The monument is located across from the tennis parking lot on the northern edge of Chamonix on the road towards Les Praz. There is little trail that takes you to the starting point for our trail to the Chalet de la Floria snack bar.
