The Lac du Brevent is a medium-sized, high altitude mountain lake located high above the town of Chamonix. The lake sits about 400 meters below the Brevent summit. The lake originated from a glacier which has since disappeared and is fed by the streams that flow from the surrounding peaks including Brevent and the Tete de Bellachat. The lake itself sits in a rocky bowl with nice views of the Rochers de Fiz high above Servoz.

The easiest way of reaching Lac du Brevent is by taking the Planpraz gondola and Brevent cable car to the summit of Brevent. From there you can walk down to the lake and back to the cable car. The Refuge de Bellachat is not far from the lake and could be easily be included in trail. You could continue further down that crest to the gorgeous Aiguillette des Houches but after having come down that far along the crest, you may as well just continue on down to the valley floor.
