La Bergerie de Planpraz is a beautiful mountain restaurant situated right next to the Planpraz lift station at an altitude of 2015 meters right above Chamonix town center. The restaurant has two large indoor seating areas and a gorgeous large terrace which offers great views of Mont Blanc right across the valley. There is also a snack bar with a sepate large terrace located right below the restaurant on the side of the Brevent Cable Car.
La Bergerie is a proper sit down restaurant with table service and a varried menu with local specialties and some international dishes. With its great locations and it easy access, it is definitely a very popular destination and you should book ahead if you want to enjoy a meal there. You can book online directly on their website.
La Bergerie can be part of many trail adventures around the area. We got a spectacular long trail starting at Col des Montets at the far northern end of the Chamonix valley which ends at Planpraz and then a meal at the Bergerie could be the perfect ender. We also got the much shorter and family-friendly traverse from Flegere to Planpraz.
