Les Lacs Noirs are two small high mountain lakes located inside the Aiguilles Rouge nature reserve. The lakes are fed through melt water from the surrounding peaks and the water flows out from the lake through the Torrent des Lacs Noir which in turn meet the Diosaz river at the valley below. The Diosaz river in turn feeds into the main Arve river near Servoz.

The two small lakes are reachable using a side trail of the main trail that runs between Col de la Gliere and Col Cornu. We have a nice trail that visit the three high mountain lakes of Lac Blanc, Lac Cornu and the Lacs Noirs in one go. If this trail is too long for you then you could visit the lake by taking the Index lift at Flegere and then traversing the high route that passes both lakes and then continues on to Planpraz from where you could then take the lift back to the valley floor at Chamonix.
