Le Buet is a small hamlet located at the end of the Berard Valley, south-west from Vallorcine. The hamlet is small but sees a lot of tourists mainly due to it being the starting point for many fantastic trails into the Berard Valley including the nearby Cascade de Berard, Buvette de Berard and the Grotte a Farinet. Another main attraction is the Mont Buet summit after which the hamlet is named. Mont Buet being the highest peak in the region outside those found in the Mont Blanc Massif. There are also excellent trails in the direction of Loriaz and from there onwards to Lac Emosson.
Le Buet is a tiny hamlet without any shops or bakeries but it does have a number of hotels and restaurants. Right on the main road you will find the Buet du Hotel and in the direction of Col des Montets is the Chalet Skiroc. The Moon-tine restaurants is popular both in winter and summer.
Le Buet has it's own train station along the Saint-Gervais to Vallorcine line which runs along the full length of the Chamonix Valley. There is also the bus line to Vallorcine that has a stop at Le Buet. There is a large car park right in front of the train station and the first trail marker and information signs for the Berard Valley are right across the main road from the carpark.
