The Refuge de Doran is a popular and sizeable refuge located about 2 hours from Sallanches and below the iconic Pointe Percee on the fringe of the Chaine des Aravis. The refuge has a rich history dating back to 1974 and has changed hands a number of times since then. The refuge offers full meals and boarding for people who booked accommodation but also offers basic meals such as omelets and charcuteries platters for visitors. The refuge is open from the middle of May to the end of October but please check their website for the precise opening dates for this year and to make bookings.

There are many smaller and longer trails that can include the refuge including an ascend of the Pointe Percee from the Sallanches side. We got a short loop trail that visits this refuge and the not so far of Refuge de Tournieux from the Burzier Parking. We also have a detailed trail description for a longer, more challenging route going to the nearby Col de la Forclaz and then loops around after visiting the Chalets de Vormy.
