Trail type
Loop
This beautiful route uses the Flegere Gondola to dramatically shorten the climb up to the majestic Lac Blanc. It then continues on and visits the Lacs de Cheserys before reach la Tete aux Vents before returning to Flegere via a beautiful balcon with stunning views over the Chamonix Valley and the Mont Blanc Massif. It really is a very nice loop showcasing many of the highlights of the Chamonix valley.
This route is very popular, especially in the peak summer months and the trails can feel very crowded around that time. If you are looking for a quieter experience then we recommend leaving early from the Col des Montets as described on this trail that visits multiple of the lakes of the Aiguilles Rouges natural reserve. If you are looking to even further reduce the amount of climbing then you could use the Index chair lift and use this trail.

Trail Directions & Safety Considerations

Risk Considerations & Difficulty Assessment
This route reaches an altitude of 2352 at the Lac Blanc and there tends to be some level of snow cover near Lac Blanc at least until the end of June. The trails around Lac Blanc are quite technical and rocky and certain sections have wooden steps, metal railings and ladders and those parts should not be tried with any level of snow cover. Navigating the trail is easy with many very clear trail markers along the way. The trails itself are a bit technical at times but nothing too crazy.

Trail Starting Point
The trail starts at the Flegere mountain station after you take the Flegere Gondola up from the valley station near Les Praz. To reach the Flegere gondola ground station you can use the bus or the train and get off at the Les Praz train station. There is also a large car park at the Flegere ground station

Trail Directions
Walk out from the Flege lift station and keep to your right to start a short descend. You will start of on the wide piste and then turn into a single track trail with clear markers for Lac Blanc. Keep following this trail and the trail markers for Lac Blanc as the trail climbs in a northern direction. You will reach Lac Blanc and pass the refuge on its right side and follow the signs for the Tete aux Vents. After some wooden steps and ladders proceed on and pass by the largest of the Lacs des Cheserys and keep going in a north-eastern direction until you reach la Tete aux Vents. Its a large stone cairn with signages. Follow the trail going back in a south-western direction clearly marked with Flegere. Keep following this beautiful balcon until you are back at the lift station.
