The Lacs des Chéserys are a grouping of 5 smaller and larger lakes located in the Aiguiles Rouges natural reserve on the northern slopes above Chamonix. The super popular Lac Blanc is very nearby a few hundred meters to the west of the largest of the Lacs des Chéserys. There is a lot of wildlife in the area, especially a large group of bouquetin (Ibex) that we have run into on multiple occassions.
The main lake of the Lacs des Chéserys is on the popular route between the Tete aux Vents and Lac Blanc and it is a popular spot to bivouac. Reservations can be made through https://bivouac.nature-haute-savoie.fr/ You are only allowed to bivouac between the hours of 7pm and 9am. More instructions and guidelines can be found on the website. There is a trail that passes by the other lakes that form the Lacs des Chéserys but they have active efforts to block off those paths to further protect these areas from visitors. We encourage you to respect these boundaries.
We got a fantastic trail that visits Lac Blanc, Lacs de Chéserys , Les Lacs Noirs and Lac Cornu. It is easy to shorted this long route by using the Flegere gondola and/or the Index Chairlift.
