Bionnassay is a tiny hamlet located below the Col de Voza half-way down to the Montjoie valley. It belongs to the municipality of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains which is located north west from Bionnassay. Bionnassay has one Refuge & Restaurant, the Auberge de Bionnassay, which is open in the summer months. The Chapelle de Bionnassay is a little chapel with some nice paintings dating back to 1480. It is worth visiting if you are in the hamlet.

Bionnassay lies on one of the main routes for the Tour du Mont Blanc for the stage that takes you from Les Houches to Les Contamines-Montjoie. Bionnassay has a great location for exploring in all directions. It could easily be includes in a trail going to Saint-Gervais-les-Bains or a visit to the Chalets de Miage via the Col de Tricot. We have a very nice trail from the Bellevue lift station towards Les Contamines-Montjoie which could easily altered to start of at Bionnassay.

Reaching Bionnassay from Chamonix by car is quite a long route forcing you to drive Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and then take the winding road up to Bionnassay. Last time we checked, google maps suggested we drive it straight over the Col de Voza. This is an option unless you have a pretty serious 4x4 vehicle and it is also not permitted. As far as we know there are no public transport options by bus or train to reach Bionnassay. If we are mistaken, then please tell us. The easiest way to reach it would be to take either the Prarion or Bellevue lifts from Les Houches. Another option would be the Tramway du Mont Blanc from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and walking down from the Col de Voza stop.
