The Buvette du Plan de l'Aiguille is a small snack bar located very near to the Plan de l'Aiguille cable car mid station to the south of Chamonix. It has a relatively small indoor seating area and a larger outdoor terrace perched nicely on a ridge with nice views up towards Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi. The north-eastern view shows much of the Grand Balcon Nord and the trail going to Montenvers. The south-western view looks out over the Mont Blanc massif and gives good views over the Les Bossons Glacier.
The Buvette Plan de l'Aiguille serves sandwhiches and paninis and little tarts. It has a good selection of cold and warm drinks and it also sells some souvenirs. The easiest way to reach the buvette is by taking the Plan Aiguille cable car from Chamonix. The nearby Lac Bleu is a fantastic little place to visit. It is a crytal clear lake with nice reflections of the peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. From the buvette, it is only a short 15 minute walk to Lac Bleu or 30 minute to go there and back again.
Our Grand Balcon Nord trail includes a visit to both the buvette and Lac Bleu. Another great option is to climb up from Chamonix via the Cascade du Dard and passed the Gare des Glaciers and traversing over to the buvette as described in this trail
